I started TDM in 2019 with Jesse Proctor - who lives out in Seattle - by sending riff and drum ideas back and forth just for the hell of it. After they started to take shape I really wanted to put a band together and play this stuff live. We started gig’n and putting out singles with a few different lineups of rad CLT musicians, having an absolute blast and put out our first EP Don't Praise The Machine. In 2023, with the main lineup of Jeremy Radio, Leo Solis, Zach Luper and Dominic Geralds, Thousand Dollar Movie released Give Me A Year. After a year of sweaty shows up and down the east coast, the band headed into the studio and knocked out this 6 song project live on floor and captured something that doesn't depart massively from their past releases, but at the same time says something new. Well...musically speaking, because ya know it's instrumental. The EP is a bit of a concept album about moving to a city from a small town and all that entails. That's what this record is about, those feelings that a city can give you. The scary excitement, the hope, and on the other side of the coin being surrounded by so many people but feeling very alone. Going from being the stoked new kid in the scene to being the old guy at the end of the bar. Seeing your favorite neighborhood bulldozed and finding some weird sandwich place that makes the best cheesesteak. The album is called Give Me A Year and I hope anyone that's left a small town and fell in love with a city can relate. The album also starts with a brief cameo (and only vocals on the project) from the one and only Mike Watt (Minutemen, fIREHOSE, Stooges).
The follow up, BIrdfeeder Vol 1, comes out 6/29/24.
